Your privacy is critically important to us. Entrusting us with it is a noble gift. We greatly value that trust and do our best to earn it again and again. At Lisning.com, we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We try to make your experience as Lisning.com as comfortable for you as you would like it to be. Part of how we help you is by assisting you in finding a therapist to work with and by facilitating your interaction with a therapist. That sometimes entails asking you to input personally identifiable information, including when you set up an account, but perhaps at other times, too. We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. (We can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
  • When you set up an account, you are given an option to disguise your identity to your therapist by using a username. Unless you decide to share it, your therapist never needs to know your name.
  • We don’t examine your personal information or share it with anyone except to help you use our portal to its maximum, comply with the law, monitor proper use of our site, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the ongoing operation of one of our services.
  • In our site, we aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control what’s visible to the public, seen by search engines, shared with your therapist, kept private, and permanently deleted.

Below is our privacy policy, which incorporates these goals. If you have questions about deleting or correcting your personal data please contact us at support@lisning.com.

We are the operators of www.lisning.com (“Lisning.com”). It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites and/ or apps.

SECTION 1 – WEBSITE VISITORS, MEMBERS, AND THERAPISTS

Like most website operators, Lisning.com may collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Lisning.com’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Lisning.com’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Lisning.com may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website. Lisning.com may also collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, Lisning.com may monitor the most popular therapists or client locations. Lisning.com may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Lisning.com does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

When you browse our website, we might also automatically receive your computer or device’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system. Lisning.com also might collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments or feedback. Lisning.com only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities. We are only human (or computers) and cannot guarantee that your information will be masked appropriately. It is in our best interest, as well as yours, for us to do a really good job at it. Yet, if something happens, within our control, or outside of it, you agree not to hold us responsible.

Certain visitors to Lisning.com’s websites choose to interact with Lisning.com in ways that require Lisning.com to gather personally-identifying information. In each case, Lisning.com collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Lisning.com. The amount and type of information that Lisning.com gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we might ask visitors who sign up for an account to provide their name, address, phone number, email address, and other information. This information is kept private to the best of our ability and not made available to other users or members, including therapists, unless you desire it to be. We are only mortal (or programmed by mortals) and cannot absolutely guarantee that your information will be masked appropriately. It is in our best interest – as professionals, and as human beings - as well as in yours, for us to do a fantastic job at it. Yet, if something happens, within our control, or outside of it, you agree not to hold us culpable.

Some visitors to Lisning.com may choose to interact with others, specifically therapists, by sending and receiving Private Messages. These messages are confidential and keeping them private is integral to how we work. We work hard to gain, maintain, and increase your trust in us, our platform, and our ability to help you get help with some of life’s most difficult situations. At the same time, we reserve the right to monitor any private message in case we suspect danger, criminal activity, or a violation of our site’s terms and conditions or policies. For technicalities, we don’t want to be bound by a specific reason, so we reserve the right to monitor any message and all messages for any reason, or for no reason at all. We are telling you this in good faith and won’t abuse your confidence in us. It is an honor that you trust us and we are very intent on keeping your thoughts, feelings, ideas, and messages private and secure. Like before, we are only people (or made by people), so if anything happens, within our control or outside of it, you agree not to get upset at us or hold us responsible.

Those who engage in transactions with Lisning.com – by purchasing a therapy plan, for example – are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. When you provide us with personal information to create an account, complete a transaction, or verify your credit card, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason.

When you sign-up for an account, you use your real name and some identifying information, like discussed above. That information might be made available or accessible to the administration of Lisning.com. You can sign up with a username that becomes which is what you use on the site. Independently operating therapists, including the one you work with, will not see your name unless you choose to share it. They will know you only by your user name – unless you want to tell them your name or identity with them. As above, it is in our best interest to use that information in good faith and respect of your privacy. We are only humans (or humanoids) and if anything happens to that information, outside our control or within it, you agree not to hold us responsible.

With your authorization, we may also obtain information about you from other sources. For example, if you create or log into your Lisning.com account through a social media service (like Google), we will receive information from that service (such as your username, basic profile information, and friends list) via the authorization procedures used by that service. The information we receive depends on which services you authorize and any options that are available.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.
